Parathyroidectomy is the only definitive cure for primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). Insulinomas, although rare, cause significant morbidity. They are frequently small at diagnosis. Whilst this means they are frequently curable by surgery, it makes localisation of the tumour difficult.
